The throughout of wireless communication systems can be improved by adding multiple antennas at the transmitter and receiver to create multiple-input multiple-output channels. To avoid the prohibitive complexity involved in the ML detectors, some special detectors were proposed to improve the performance-complexity trade-off, such as zero-forcing (ZF), minimum mean-square (MMSE), vertical Bell labs layered space-time (VBLAST), sphere detection (SD), etc, but the performance and complexity gaps between the optimal detector and the suboptimal detector leaves substantial room for improvement. In order to improve the detection performance, an improved algorithm which combines ordered-QR decomposition algorithm with CHASE detection framework was presented, which can reduce computational complexity and error spread effectively. Simulation results show that the improved algorithm has better performance than conventional BLAST algorithm over frequency selective fading channel, which can get excellent performance-complexity trade-off.
