According to the precise demands of the management for the social statistics of road transportation volume, this paper gave the vehicle sort, and sub-category of goods of highway freight transportation statistical projection method. To improve the timeliness and accuracy of the transportation investigation and statistics, this paper designed the regional highway traffic statistics business processes, making the sampling frame organization, sample extraction, sample management and data collection as the core function module, developed a highway transportation statistics information system. Lastly, as the highway transportation survey and statistics of one of the Chinese Province in 2008 for an example, applied and validated the statistical methods and information systems, the result shows that the statistic method and system can be refined to better meet the regional transportation and financial management needs.
