A novel broadband microstrip antenna with 50% bandwidth is proposed in this paper. An optimization project based on the combination of genetic algorithm with HFSS is created to facilitate the antenna design. The operating principle of the proposed design can be explained in terms of a combination of dual-mode operation and capacitance compensation.
