Accurate registration is crucial to medical image analysis and visualization. In this paper, we propose an improved image registration technique based on Demons technique. The proposed technique improves registration quality by combining symmetric gradient and orthogonal gradient information. Experimental results show that the proposed technique provides a superior performance(13%-21% improvement) compared to existing non-rigid registration technique in terms of registration accuracy.
