An undergraduate senior project to design and simulate a modern central processing unit (CPU) with a mix of simple and complex instruction sets using a systematic design method is presented. The main objectives of the project are to accustom students to modern design methods as well as to help them gain practical experience in designing digital computers. Findings and suggestions on the use of modern work and design concepts in a group profit environment are discussed
