In this paper, we present a method for the design and implementation of a tracing smart car control system based on path recognition of laser sensors. The whole system is realized on a model car which is one twenty-eight the size of a real one. The car is driven by a rear wheel DC motor and a front wheel steering servo. The tracing smart car is equipped with laser tubes of wavelength of 650 nanometer and receiving tubes as its path recognition sensors. And it adopts the Freescale high performance microcontroller MC9S12XS128 as the core to control the motor and the servo by collecting information of the track and the encoder's speed feedback. The control scheme named closed-loop control system includes the widespread use of PID algorithm which is combined with the speed feedback. The whole system runs steadily by the co-work of the software and hardware. It can react to complex path information quickly.
