Welded metal bellows mechanical seal is mainly used in the heat pumps at petrochemical enterprises, and the bellows is the key part for a welded metal bellows mechanical seal; it is often occurrence of fatigue failure in work due to the repeated elastic deformation. In this paper, take the diaphragms for the welded metal bellows mechanical seal as researching object, the stress distribution and deformation field of the S-type and V-type diaphragms for the welded metal bellows were gained by FEM analysis and calculation, and the stress of the two types of diaphragms were compared. The structural optimization and analysis was conducted to the S-type diaphragm. This researching result provides a theoretical foundation for the improving design of the structure of the diaphragms, increasing the fatigue strength and the service life for the welded metal bellows mechanical seal.
