A low impedance bulk linearly tapered slot antenna (bulk LTSA) is proposed. It possesses low impedance because of its thicker than conventional metallic fins. Good matching is obtained with a transmission line or circuit over a wide millimetre-wave frequency range by choosing the fm thickness of a bulk LTSA appropriately. An experiment demonstrates that the bulk LTSA has high boresight directivity with low power reflection. These characteristics are attractive for applications in millimetre-wave imaging.
