This paper studies the slab stack shuffling problem considering crane scheduling in the slab yard of iron and steel industries. An ILP-based algorithm framework is proposed for the problem, in which an ILP model is proposed to solve the slab selecting subproblem and a specified procedure is developed to detect whether there is a feasible crane schedule for the chosen slabs. Through a number of iterations, the optimum solution can be obtained. The experiment results show that the algorithm framework is effective and efficient.
