The switched Ethernet has become present research focus toward real-time Ethernet because in which stations are directly connected on switches with full-duplex links to break up collision domains into small groups of devices, effectively reducing the number of collisions. This paper proposes a solution to use the switched Ethernet in the CNC systems including the star topology architecture and the real-time communication mechanism according to the character of the traffic flow in the CNC systems. Finally the implementation of a prototype system is introduced and the results based on the prototype system show this method is feasible and effective.
