The Soul of a New Chip

Following completion of my B.S.E.E. in 1965 and four years' military service as a U.S. Navy officer, I took a job with the Knolls Atomic Power Labs division of GE as a nuclear power plant operations supervisor at the navy's S5G nuclear plant. My job responsibilities involved training navy personnel for duties as nuclear plant operators on submarines and surface ships. This was compounded by a 28-day rotating shift schedule along with a commute of 60 miles each way to my work location in the southeast Idaho desert.
