The multipoint control unit (MCU) is the control center of a video conference network. The implementation of MCU requires both hardware and software. An MCU system software, which is designed to construct a prototype MCU with the hardware we have already developed, is discussed and the emphasis is on the structure of the software and some key points of software implementation. This paper is based on the experience of developing a video conference system that is in use at the Zhengzhou Railway Bureau
