A Monte Carlo simulation approach is proposed in this paper to evaluate the impact of intermittent wind distributed generation on distribution system. Indices providing direct reliability indicators on the addition of WTG are used to reflect the impact. Taking into account the fluctuating nature of wind speed, the random failures of generating units and recognized dependencies, wind speed model, wind turbine generator output model and load model are established. The hourly wind speeds are forecasted utilizing a time series method, while the nonlinear relationship between WTG power output and the wind velocity is utilized in the WTG model. A specific Monte Carlo simulation procedure is described and a case study with data from the IEEE Reliability Test System is used to illustrate the method.
