A perceptual quality assessment model for synthesised virtual images in practical free viewpoint video systems is presented. The model is based on contourlet and neighbouring references, and can be used for the case when the original reference and ground-truth geometric information are both absent. Subjective tests have been performed to determine the overall image quality. The results demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms other popular quality assessment models.
