Home devices like set-top boxes and media gateways are a rich source of users' information. They can play a role to facilitate interactions with friends and relatives in social networks. However these interactions have to follow policies to safeguard users' privacy while maintaining the complexity low for the average user. In this article we prototype an architecture based for home devices to participate in social networks. Besides, we explore the privacy issues and how the privacy offered in social networks can be improved.
