A power aware planning strategy for indoor wireless networks is presented, based on a genetic algorithm optimisation technique coupled with a site specific ray tracing approximation. The optimisation targets power consumption minimisation and suggests network configurations that yield energy efficiency, increase the battery life of terminal devices and enable the use of renewable energy at the access points.
