Test experiments described in this paper are aimed at evaluation of LONWorks technology against selected requirements of power substation automation system. The paper examines reliability and response time characteristics of data transfer on the LONWorks network. The main reference for this examination were requirements of protection and control systems used in power substations and in industrial power distribution
