In this paper, we analyze basic performance factor of PMIPv6 for mobility management such as handoff latency is not different from that of Mobile IPv6. Thus the fault of large handoff latency will still influence the latency-sensitive service. Meanwhile PMIPv6 might lead to increase location update signaling cost while mobile nodes handoff frequently for it is based upon the global mobility management protocol. Therefore, we introduce our proposed network-based localized mobility management mechanism, in which the fast handoff method is used in the PMIPv6 protocol. Using the analytical model, we study the effect of cells number in a domain on location update cost. Numerical evaluation result shows that the proposed scheme can improve performance of the previous protocols in location update cost.
