For the limited network resource, the performance of Mobile Ad Hoc Network is influenced seriously by the overloaded data flows, a novel distributed end-to-end admission control mechanism based on bandwidth estimation is proposed in this paper. Considering channel utilization, frames collision and backoff procedures in network, the available bandwidth is estimated, and then the decision of whether to admit the data flow is drawn by comparison between the estimated available bandwidth and the residual bandwidth. Simulation results show that available bandwidth can be estimated accurately by our passive estimating mechanism; moreover, with the proposed admission control method, the overloaded flows can be rejected precisely, the network throughput is enhanced.
