Nowadays, there is a tendency to increase the capacity of wind turbines, multilevel converter is a realistic alternative in such high power applications. As the wind power penetration continues to increase, grid codes have been revised to require wind farms to operate as conventional power plants. This paper proposes a reconfiguration scheme of control strategies for doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbine system, which dominates the wind market at present due to the significant advantages. Simulation and experimental results have proven excellent performances in both normal and fault conditions and verified that the studied system can completely meet the latest gird code requirements with the proposed reconfiguration methodology.
