Utilizing hierarchical particle swarm optimization for nonrigid image registration of brain Images is presented in this paper. The guidance of this method for intraoperative image registration helps the surgeons to operate successful surgery and diagnose the tumor in brain more reliably. Using hierarchical particle swarm optimization gives the good particles that move up in the hierarchy a larger influence on the swarm. Our experiments show the effectiveness and better accuracy of this method rather than local methods or basic particle swarm optimization.
