Aiming to solving bottleneck problems such as modeling 3D scene and character in the process of virtual product development, this paper investigates a data-driven synthesis of geometric model, and applies to a shape-based search to find 3D models or parts in a model base, and then composite parts to form new models. Its application shows that this approach can efficiently create geometric models of the scenes and characters in cultural activities based on existing 3D models in ethnic cultural model library with regional characteristics.
