In P2P streaming media on-demand system, limited network bandwidth and cache space seriously affects the downloading speed of peers and extremely restrict the QoS of the whole system. A network coding solution on P2P streaming media on-demand system is proposed. The solution adopts random linear network coding technology. With network coding which can improve the utilization rate of bandwidth and the upload capability of cache space, the solution reduces the average downloading time of the peers. A comparative experiment with BiTorrent is followed in this paper. Experimental results show that the solution can reduce the average downloading time by 4.166% in the network with 1 tracker and 63 peers, the download success rate and upload capacity for peers are improved at the same time.
