Functional requirements analysis of C4ISR is the major stage to guide the development staff to find out the user requirements in order to satisfy the needs of command personnel and executives during the construction of C4ISR system. It effects directly on the rate of process and appropriation budget of the following engineering, and is likely to be the main criterion for the system evaluation and acceptance. Usually, functional requirements can be acquired by the analysis of the DoDAF. The DoDAF specifies a set of "standard" views capturing various system perspectives. As with nearly all frameworks, the outline and contents are defined, but the methodology and support aids are left to the developmental organization's discretion. Applying the principles, processes, and comprehensive tools of systems engineering to DoDAF is a way to solve the problem. This paper gives an outlook of system engineering (SE) for functional requirements analysis after DoDAF introduced briefly. The map of the DoDAF views to the SE method is set up and a process of SE is carried out as an instance.
