This paper introduces a framework for spatial resources management and discovery in grid environment. Users have great demand in accessing various spatial resources distributed at multiple nodes in the grid environment. Therefore, it is helpful to manage these spatial resources as a whole, making it convenient for users to achieve the resources they need. We introduce spatial metadata concept to describe spatial resources, especially spatial data in this paper. Then, a MDS-based framework is put forward. In this framework, we employ Globus Toolkit as the basic component to build grid environment, with MDS component managing all nodes as a whole. The spatial metadata are collected and stored in VO central nodes. By matching their requirements with these metadata, users may get spatial data that they need.
