With the rapid development of the Internet, the Web is full of valuable information. Enterprises are increasingly faced with a big challenge of how to integrate the distributed data and applications effectively. The concept of SOA solves the traditional problem of tight coupling and Web services are the major technology for implementing SOA. However, in recent years, another trend is that REST has increasingly gained much attention and been widely used for Web services development. In this paper, we make an in-depth analysis about traditional Web services and RESTful Web services and design a testing scheme to test and analyze the performance of RESTful Web services to demonstrate that RESTful Web services are more suitable for Internet-scale distributed data integration.
