In this paper, we have presented full-wave analysis of the microstrip-to-CPW right-angled transition with via-hole by the finite difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Compensations have been done to get ideal return loss and insertion loss. Frequency dependent characteristics of the transition are obtained via Fourier transform of the time domain results. Numerical results of the optimized structure are obtained by FDTD, the insertion loss is better than -0.8 dB and return loss is lower than -12 dB from 30 to 100 GHz.
