Cyberinfrastructure connects scientific researchers to data, to computing, and to each other, helping to accelerate the process of scientific discovery. The authors describe one such platform, which allows researchers to work together online to develop simulation and modeling tools. Others can access the resulting tools via an ordinary Web browser and launch simulation runs on the national Grid infrastructure—without having to download or compile any code. Researchers in this environment support one another by rating tools, submitting ideas, answering questions, and improving their models.
