In recent years, a number of applications have been implemented on wireless sensor networks (WSNs). One important issue in WSNs is energy saving. Different from the traditional applications of WSNs, the applications of Wireless multimedia sensor networks have to think about application-level quality of service (QoS) and energy saving. A cooperative caching in WMSNs is proposed to solve the energy saving and QoS. However, existed studies of caching in WMSNs do not take the statistical information of multimedia item as an essential factor in the cache replacement methodology. In this paper, we propose a cache replacement criterion by mining temporal region requesting multimedia patterns, TRRMRC, to reduce the unnecessary cache replacement. Through empirical evaluations, TRRMRC indeed benefits the reduction of the cache replacement in WMSNs.
