Optical signal processing is accomplished by an arrayed-waveguide grating multiplexer (AWG) provided with an optical semiconductor amplifier (OSA) in each loop-back optical path. The proposed configuration can easily realise three useful functions: amplification, modulation and demodulation. Dynamic signal processing in the fabricated 1.55 μm loop-back type AWG multiplexer is successfully obtained and confirmed to operate in accordance with the design
