The authors present a novel algorithm for echo cancellation. The algorithm consists of simultaneously applying the LMS algorithm to the near-end section of the echo canceller, and a controlled mixed LMS-LMF algorithm to the far-end section. This combination results in a substantial improvement in performance of the proposed scheme over the LMS and the LMF algorithms
