The method of design and implementation of image retrieval system based on regions of interest (ROI) is introduced in this article: First of all, the system's main function is discussed, which is focused on human-computer interaction and real-time feature extraction. The retrieval system's features are followed by the ROI to the color and spatial information for the ROI extraction, characterization, this regional characteristics matching method achieves a rapid and accurate way to retrieve. The results are showed that the retrieval algorithm is of high accuracy and retrieval recall, the system is made by user-friendly human-computer interaction, with good maintenance and scalability.
