This paper aspires to provide a better understanding of the future development of music as an IDM service. This paper adopted scenario planning (SP), an approach already widely utilized in strategy and decision making, as a tool for developing business strategies. Scenarios are systemic tools, which can help articulate, discuss, and illustrate different possible futures. To narrate this point, the paper provides an example of scenario planning applied to the music industry. Various disruptive forces are identified, which, in retrospect, attributed to the future development of music industry.
