Using a small array to optimize dipole match in the presence of mutual coupling

Tuning the center dipole in a small array, such that it will ultimately exhibit a good active input impedance when used in a large array, is discussed. The presentation addresses theory, timing techniques, measured results, and comments on general applicability.
