UPnP is a new Internet protocol by which various intelligent devices, wireless devices, personal computers and so on could access to peer-to-peer networks around the world. With the rapid development of current digital technology, UPnP technology is widely used in all types of family networking products. This paper introduces the system's composition and mechanisms of UPnP, and proposes a process model for the media server's architecting, configuration and discovery based on UPnP and its audio-visual architecture, upon the basis of which the analysis of its advantages is presented.
