This paper discusses the criticalities occurring in the computation of hysteresis loops by the numerical space-time integration of the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. The magnetization time-update is obtained by means of two norm-conserving algorithms, respectively based on midpoint rule and Cayley transform. The study gives hints for the definition of a correct criterion of convergence towards equilibrium states and for the improvement of the numerical efficiency, focusing on the reduction of the simulation duration.
