The handling of inverse scattering problems for electromagnetic waves often involves the solution of a given associated forward problem either immediately within a chosen iterative optimization problem or it can be regarded as a tool to provide sample data for calibration and testing. Typically, the dimensions of the objects under consideration are much larger than the applied wavelength so that efficient algorithms to simulate electrically large objects are of the primary importance. In this work, a survey of different numerical approaches used to solve the forward problems by means of integral equation methods supported by application results is presented.
