This paper calculated the potential and electric field distribution of cage-type rigid jumper for strain towers used in 1000 kV UHV transmission lines by finite element method. The electric field distribution on the surface of jumpers and fittings, the electric field distribution curves along jumpers were simulated and analyzed. Based on the results, the general characteristics of electric field distribution for rigid jumpers were proposed. Finally, some suggestions were given to improve the electric field distribution on the surfaces of jumpers and fittings. The conclusions given by this paper have important engineering application value for the UHV transmission lines construction.
