An efficient algorithm is presented to compute the constrained optimal band ordering in lossless compression of the multispectral remote sensing images. This algorithm considers the spectral properties and spectral correlation between adjacent spectral bands. It is particularly useful for the lossless compression of the very high spectral resolution images
