Using first-order prediction coding to compress the data that collected by sensor nodes can bring down redundant information and greatly reduce the amount of data transmission in network. The simulation results show that compressing data by improved prediction coding can reduce energy consumption significantly and prolong the whole lifetime of wireless sensor network.
