Brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) has two sets of winding on the stator, the power winding connect with constant frequency constant voltage three-phase power frequency electrical source ,the controlled winding connect with the matrix converter (MC). MC possess the capability of bi-directional power flow, can simultaneously provide sinusoidal input current and output voltage. The phase of input current can be adjusted to lead, to lag or to coincide with the phase of the input voltage, the magnitude and frequency of the output voltage and the input power factor can be independently adjusted. This paper study the brushless doubly-fed wind power generation system based on the MC and BDFM. The MC using double voltage control strategy can have a good output frequency, also can make the BDFM run normally. The results from simulation and experiment can prove that the MC composed by DSP and CPLD is correct and feasible. Meanwhile, it also lays a foundation for the practical application of brushless doublyfed wind power generation system. Adopted wind power generation system consisting of the MC and BDFM is a kind of VSCF project.
