This paper analyzed the existing problems in current teaching of computer operating system course for undergraduates majoring in computer sciences. With the research and teaching practice in computer operating system course, we attempt to improve the teaching quality and get it realized. The teaching experiences than can improve the teaching quality are formulated in four aspects as follows: applying flexible and multi teaching methods; associating knowledge points of related courses; developing a thinking process for problem solving and integrating OpenSolaris open source operating system into teaching. Each above mentioned aspects is explained in detail in the paper. Also, some consideration of future research is addressed.
