Recently, the issue of production planning of hybrid Make-To-Stock (MTS)/Make-To-Order (MTO) manufacturing systems such as semiconductor systems has been a challenging issue in the literature. One of the important parts of production planning of these systems is the dispatching way of the products in the shop floor (fab). Dispatching method controls the flow of products in the fab. In this paper, we present an efficient dispatching method for a semiconductor fab with hybrid MTS/MTO production environment. The proposed dispatching method prioritizes the MTS and MTO products in the queue of a workstation whenever a machine in this workstation becomes idle. To evaluate the proposed method, several performance measures for MTS and MTO products have been considered. Also, a number of numerical experiments by simulation have been conducted. Simulation studies indicate that the proposed method outperforms other renowned dispatching policies in the literature.
