Community education serves as a significant part to construct the lifelong educational system, and as a necessary channel to establish the learning society. Grid technology is proposed to settle the problems of distributed calculating and system resources sharing. The realized function of resources sharing, personalized service, and cooperative support can fully suffice the learnerspsila need to obtain learning support and cooperative learning in the learning process. This paper analyzes the current development of the community colleges and distance education systems, discusses the integration of sorts of resources of distance educational systems and community education by the use of grid technology, and brings forward an effective approach to set up a virtual community university based on the grid technology.
