Mobile IP will be used to provide the macro-mobility in the B3rd/4th generation mobile communication. When providing security, Mobile IP registration should also take account of the efficiency requirements of the mobile communication. This paper devotes to the problem of improving both the security of the Mobile IP registration and the efficiency including the latency, the throughput and the security cost. Our method integrates the symmetric cryptosystem with the ID-based non-interactive key agreement from parings. Further, the authentication in Mobile IP registration is optimized. Security and performance analyses show that our scheme is both secure and efficient.
