This paper describes the language-design rationale and the most interesting features of a programming language for distributed real-time systems. The language, called DEAL, is object oriented and based on the C++ language. To make DEAL suitable for the implementation of hard real-time applications there are some restrictions as well as extensions to the C++ base-language.
