We present an information extraction system for automated information extraction from free text. The system, XAR, available open-source to the community, abstracts an extraction application developer from low level text processing details, permitting developing applications with high-level extraction rules. The system also incorporates semantic information in the form of integrity constraints to improve the quality of the extraction. We describe the XAR system and present a summary of experimental results demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach.
