A flex-rigid assembly is proposed for densely packed active antenna arrays. The multilayer compound bases on liquid crystal polymer (LCP) and common RF substrates. The integration of the RF components as well as thermal and mechanical aspects are addressed. A complete 4times4 Ka-Band array providing polarization multiplex is demonstrated. Far-field measurements of the antenna elements are discussed.
