The authors comment sequentially on several statements in the paper by M. Mendik, S. Sathish, A. Kulik, G. Gremaud, and P. Wachter, J. Appl. Phys. 71, 2830 (1992) and suggest a more reliable technique to determine the elastic constants of a {100}‐oriented cubic crystal.
