The dispersion relations for the new waves excited by a suddenly created Lorentz media are derived and presented by the use of a Brillouin‐like diagram. The amplitude and power transmission and reflection coefficients for these new modes are derived and discussed. It is shown that less than 4% of the pump wave power is transferred to the reflected modes.
